Targeted temperature management (TTM) after cardiac arrest

LITFL-Life-in-the-FastLane-760-180

Current evidence suggests that normothermia and actively avoiding fever (>37.7 o C) has no significant difference in morbidity or mortality (including QoL and functional outcomes) compared with therapeutic hypothermia (of 33 o C or 36 o C) following CA.

However, current professional organisations continue to recommend TTM of 33-36 o C for at least 24 hours following cardiac arrest.
